A new wedding venue without the tools to attract bookings
Baycourt Community & Arts Centre approached me with a challenge: they needed an elegant, professional wedding brochure design to promote The Cargo Shed, a newly renovated waterfront wedding venue.
Without an established brand presence or consistent marketing materials, the goal was to create a compelling design piece that would immediately capture the attention of engaged couples and drive future bookings.
Limited visual assets & no clear brand identity
The key hurdle was the scarcity of high-quality photographs showcasing the venue’s potential. Adding to the complexity, The Cargo Shed had no established brand guidelines, making it difficult to ensure consistency across marketing collateral.
With the upcoming Bay of Plenty Wedding Show fast approaching, it was essential to create a design solution that felt cohesive, elevated, and seamlessly aligned with The Cargo Shed’s connection to Baycourt and the council’s overarching brand identity.
Strategic design choices to maximise impact
Initially, a simple A4 double-sided flyer was considered. However, I recommended elevating the concept to an A5 brochure, created by folding an A4 sheet in half.
This allowed us to deliver a more premium, tactile experience while providing ample space for carefully curated text and visuals. Leveraging the existing council brand guidelines, I crafted a wedding brochure design that integrated the limited imagery in a polished, cohesive layout.
Clean typography, plenty of white space, and a balanced visual hierarchy ensured the brochure communicated sophistication and professionalism, despite the constraints.

The finished wedding brochure exceeded the client’s expectations, effectively positioning The Cargo Shed as a desirable, high-end wedding venue.
