About
Me

Hey, I'm Amy, and I’m the graphic designer behind Poppyseed Design.

I’m originally from the UK and have been lucky enough to call sunny Tauranga my home for the last 5 years! It’s such a beautiful part of the world, I feel so lucky!

I have over 17 years of experience in graphic design, and still love my job so much!

I have always been passionate about design from a young age.

You would always find me “crafting” or “making things”.

When I realised I could train to become a graphic designer and be paid to do this as a career, this felt like a huge bonus!

They say if you love your job, you never work a day in your life, and this has certainly felt true.

Of course, everyone has their off days, but, it’s been a career choice I have always been proud to do.

Fast forward through the years studying at university completing my degree, to then being employed in a couple of roles as a graphic designer to continue to hone my design portfolio.

My career as a graphic designer was put on hold when Poppy arrived.

She made an entrance, arriving at 30 weeks, (7 months), so my life changed instantly, with no warning!

I took the first year of maternity leave in my stride, focussing on her needs and settling into motherhood.

It was certainly different, especially with a worldwide pandemic thrown into the mix!

However, then I faced the biggest challenge.

What to do next?

I wanted to resume my career but didn’t want to do it full-time.

It didn’t seem too much to ask to be able to work as a part-time graphic designer. That’s where I found the struggle.

All roles appeared to require someone full-time. And that wasn’t something that would work with my family situation – I wanted to spend time with my daughter as well as work.

That’s when I decided to create Poppyseed Design - my own freelance graphic design company.

One that allows me to choose my hours and work around my family’s needs. Something that can be flexible, working around holidays, and sickness, but still being able to incorporate a family life too.

So here I am. Able to offer graphic design to clients with flexible options.

I design with you in mind.

Let’s see how we can work together.

Let's create your next graphic design project.
