Heart Pocketfold Wedding Invitation

Overview

This heart themed pocketfold wedding invitation design was a time consuming project, however I wanted to create something different for this client!

To design and brand yourself is always a tricky task. So when I needed to design my own wedding stationery, I felt the pressure! Being a designer myself I felt it needed to be something special.

We chose to have our wedding at Sandy Cove Hotel, which is beside the sea, with beautiful ocean views. The wedding was also held outside, luckily the weather was on our side for the day!

Unfortunately for myself, we only had 5 months before the wedding. This was because the wedding venue had spaces they wanted to fill, so we decided to go for it. This meant I needed to design something quickly!

We both decided we wanted to use a turquoise colour, as we both enjoy being outside, by the beach or water, and the turquoise colour reflected that.

Save the Date Design

I like simple designs, and also like to craft things myself. Given the time pressure, we decided to design some Save the Date cards, which would buy me some extra time for the invitations themselves.

I liked the idea of having a symbol to form the basis of the design. I decided to use our fingerprints to form a heart shape.

The Save the Date cards were designed as a fridge magnet.

Wedding Invitation Design

For the invitations themselves, I created a pocketfold folder, which would house all the information. The heart icon was used to create a seal for the pocketfold, with a small magnet on the back to keep it closed.

The RSVP, accommodation options, no gifts poem and song choice cards were all contained in the folder. All these inserts were sized slightly smaller than the previous, so they stacked when displayed in the folder. They were all printed onto textured card. For the invitations themselves, they were mounted onto turquoise pearlised card, then stuck onto the folder to give a 3 dimensional effect.

Wedding Stationery Suite

I designed an order of service booklet, menu, table names and place names, all were finished in the same way as the invitations, mounted onto turquoise card then onto white card.

As we both enjoy watching MotoGP, we wanted to incorporate this into our day somehow.

The table names were numbers of the MotoGP riders, and the table plan was mounted on a board to look like the starting grid.
