Captain Tamas’s Lagoon Cruizes Branding

Captain Tama’s Rarotonga glass-bottom boat cruise is a world famous Muri Lagoon cruise in a tropical paradise.

As we had completed design projects for our Cook Island clients; Aitutaki.com, Turama Pacific Travel Group and the Aitutaki Marathon, we understood the island vibe that was required and the importance of the traditional island patterns and symbols.

About the Captain Tama’s experience

Be entertained by Captain Tama’s and his crew on this once in a lifetime, most unforgettable experience.

Watch the magical ocean through the glass bottomed boat, listen to island stories with typical Cook Island humour.

Captain Tama’s and his entertaining crew have been sharing their tropical island playground with visitors since 1992 on their award-winning Muri Lagoon cruise.

Behind the brand design

The client needed a logo and website designed. They were the original tour operators offering this experience, and now needed to stand out against the competition.

We decided to reference traditional Rarotongan symbols for the logo design.

We picked up on the Manu tai, (sea birds) “known as the fisherman’s or sailors motif, a harbinger of good news. The birds indicate the presence of fish or the indication of land nearby.”

We decided to include this as part of the logo design, as well as the clown fish icon, that the client was originally using.

The “Captain Tamas’s” wordmark was designed as an outline, as the tour was on a glass bottom boat. We wanted the logo to show the background when placed over items.

The manu tai was also referenced when designing the website, using these to point to the images relevant to the corresponding text blocks.

As Captain Tama’s was all about fun, we incorporated bright colours in the designs.
