We all know the drill: it’s New Year’s Eve, and we’re full of excitement, thinking about how this year will be the year we finally change everything.
The classic “New Year, New You” resolution.
But let’s be real for a second—how often do we set ourselves up with goals so huge that they end up fizzling out before February even hits?
This year, though, I’m taking a different approach.
Instead of going for a complete overhaul, I’ve decided to focus on one small, achievable goal: getting more organised.
It’s simple, manageable, and—most importantly—realistic.
And honestly, I think that’s the secret.
The key to a successful New Year’s resolution isn’t about making huge, dramatic changes all at once. It’s about starting small and celebrating the tiny wins along the way.
Maybe that means finally scheduling that social media post you’ve been meaning to get to or crossing off that little task from your to-do list (although, side note: why does that list never get shorter, no matter how many things we cross off?!).
At the end of last year, my coaching group and I took a step back to reflect.
We spent time thinking about what we wanted to leave behind and what we wanted to bring with us into the new year.
For me, the decision was clear: I’m leaving behind chaos and that feeling of being constantly overwhelmed.
I’ve realised that trying to juggle too many things at once isn’t helping anyone—least of all myself.
So, I’ve started looking at ways to streamline things. I’ve been diving into my CRM software and setting up a new system that will help take the stress out of admin tasks.
The goal? To make everything feel more organised and manageable, instead of just constantly putting out fires.
Another thing I’ve learned is the importance of breaking big tasks into smaller, more digestible chunks.
It’s easy to look at a mountain of work and feel defeated, but if I take it one step at a time, it’s much more manageable.
Kind of like climbing a staircase—you don’t need to jump to the top in one go; just take one step at a time.
So, what about you?
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions this year?
Whether it’s something big or small, I’d love to hear what you’re focusing on.
Let’s make this year a little bit more organised, one step at a time!
