Looking at a stranger

In the wedding industry, where every detail counts and first impressions matter, I recently found myself on a new style adventure: it was time to choose new glasses.

After my routine eye test, I learned my prescription had changed. While this might seem like a trivial decision, it was a chance to reflect on my personal branding and professional image—especially for someone like me, who thrives on making everything look beautiful and cohesive.

Do you wear glasses? I need mine for designing on the computer and driving. That being said, I don’t see myself wearing glasses very often, so seeing my reflection with glasses always looks alien to me. It's like looking at a stranger in the mirror!

As a professional in the wedding industry, my personal brand is an extension of my work. I believe the way I present myself can significantly impact how clients perceive my abilities. So, when I set out to find the perfect pair of glasses, I wasn't just looking for something functional—I wanted eyewear that screamed me.

The wedding industry is all about the details. From the lace trim on a bride's gown to the precise placement of table centrepieces, every small element contributes to the overall experience. When choosing my glasses, I applied the same meticulous attention to detail. Since my last eye test, I’ve lost weight, so my face shape has changed, and my hair colour is now darker, which influenced my style and colour choices.

Eyewear can significantly influence how we're perceived in a professional setting. I wanted my glasses to exude confidence, competence, and a modern sense of style—traits I strive to embody in my work. Just like ensuring every visual element of my design projects are flawless, my glasses needed to reflect the same level of professionalism. The right pair of glasses, I realised, would not only enhance my vision but also leave a lasting impression on my clients and colleagues.

Choosing new glasses turned out to be more than just a shopping trip; it was a journey of self-discovery and professional growth. It was also a bit of a fashion show—trying on different frames, laughing at the ones that were too big or made me look too old, and finally finding the perfect pair that felt just right.

This experience reminded me of the importance of aligning every detail with the quality and care I bring to my work. It reinforced my belief that personal branding, attention to detail, and professional image are all interconnected. By presenting the best version of myself, I can continue to inspire confidence in my clients and showcase the dedication I bring to making their special day perfect.

Investing in your personal image and brand can have a significant impact on your professional success. Just like choosing the right glasses, every detail in how you present yourself matters. It shows that you care about the small things, which can translate to your work and make a lasting impression on clients. By aligning your personal style with your professional brand, you enhance your credibility and create a cohesive, trustworthy image.

So, next time you see me sporting my new glasses, know that they are not just a vision aid—they are a reflection of my style, my personality, and my commitment to excellence in every wedding I help create.
